Southern 6 Stage Road Relays

Six Sisters of HAC at the 6 Stage

106.jpg

After running first leg I took great satisfaction, and was much amused, to watch the eye brows of friends from other clubs (and the male members of ours) leap inches from their regular positions as I told them I was waiting for the rest of my team to finish. Writes Emma Grant.

Deadly Dozen Don’t Disappoint
On a perfect afternoon in Milton Keynes the HAC men’s squad formed to do battle with the best the south had to offer at the Southern 12 stage road relays. Up for grabs was personal glory and team qualification for the nationals.

Serpentine 5k, Hyde Park, Friday 26th March 2011

After a disappointing first race back from injury at the U20 SEAA Relays on the 12th March, even with the lack of training Chris wanted to test his fitness over 5k.
He was confident that he could get around 19 minutes for the race as his PB set in December was 18.48. With the best weather in months and the gods shining down on him he went out with the goal of getting as close to his PB a possible.
Chris did not just get close to his personal best; he smashed it running 18.24 knocking 24 seconds off, coming home in 22nd and first U20. Now Chris is on the road to being 100% his sights will be on his first ever track season.
Anuradha Cooray from Vale Of Aylesbury won the race in 15.27. There were 242 finishers.

Paul Swan Marathon Man

Hannah Webster (Whose blog this article is taken from) interviewed a terrific runner for a story on his attempt to break the world record for the fastest marathon run in a costume, and I was so blown away by his love of the sport that I wanted to give him another mention on this blog, writes Hannah Webster.

The man in question is 48-year-old Paul Swan, a Pc based at Walsall police station and Hillingdon AC Country member.
Now, I know he won’t mind me saying this because many people have made the point to him before when they hear about how much running he does – he’s crazy.

Gosunder 5 Miles Yacht Handicap, Ruislip, Sat. 19th March, 2011

Gary Taylor gets his name on the famous pot

Despite a fine sunny afternoon, a disappointingly small field started the 57th running of this classic club race.  However, Gary Taylor was a worthy winner, running the second fastest time of the day, just holding off a fast finishing Stevan Dokic.  Stevan ran the fastest time of the day, despite (or maybe because of!) having had a hard training session in the morning.
