Hillingdon AC win the 2019 Alder Valley Boys Trophy Competition for the first time

Well what a weekend! The boys visited Reading for the Alder Valley Boys trophy competition, reports Dianne Gibbons. We had out our strongest available team but still had some key people missing. Despite this, scores half way through were that we were in 2nd place to the Reading team – a real surprise! As team managers we had tried to fill every event and everyone was running, jumping and throwing their best with many PBs. As the afternoon progressed we continued to stay in 2nd place with the scores getting ever closer. Relays were very exciting with us neck and neck with Reading. Right at the end when nearly all had gone home, having had a very hot and exhausting day, we got the news that we had wanted, we had overtaken Reading and had won the Trophy competition for the first time ever in the clubs history. Congratulations must go to firstly to all of the athletes, they performed amazingly and made us very proud. Thanks must go to all of the coaches in our club who have helped coach, encourage and motivate our athletes to a great standard, officials – amazing as always and parents who travel, drop off and support their children. A huge congratulations to all involved – a superb team effort!

Well done to all members of the team from everyone at HAC!

End of season thanks from Alison Alford

As the season draws to a close I would like to congratulate our athletes on such an amazing season, reports Alison Alford. The girls competed at Windsor on Saturday 14th September and there were some amazing performances, and to finish 2nd overall in the Trophy Meeting behind Reading was just incredible and out of 9 teams. Thank you to our officials who work so hard for our club to make these events happen, to the parents who support our athletes and drive them to all the venues, to our coaches who work so hard to ensure our athletes progress each season and finally to our athletes, just amazing!! I am so proud to be a coach at this club and also a Team Manager.

Here’s looking forward already to what will be an exciting 2020.

Hilarie Lemon – Funeral arrangements and celebration mass

Please see below message regarding funeral arrangements and celebration mass for Hilarie Lemon.

As you may know, Hilarie sadly passed away after being diagnosed with brain cancer in Jan 2017. She was a member of HAC for many years, and loved her running, especially on the trips to Bruges. She will perhaps be remembered most as the person who always stated off the dancing at social events and would dance the night away.

Hilarie passed away in the Marie Curie Hospice in Liverpool, so we were near our daughter for the birth of her first grandchild. Hilarie held baby Tonina in her arms, and slipped into a coma that night. She will be cremated at a service in her home town near Liverpool on Friday 20th September.

A special celebration mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 32 Field End Road, Eastcote. HA5 2QT. This will be at 3pm on Saturday 28th September.

Dress code is informal.

Please no flowers. You may wish to make a donation to Marie Curie at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/HilarieLemon

The family would be pleased if you can join us afterwards in the adjacent church hall for drinks and light refreshments.

We would like to make a photo wall of happy times so please feel welcome to bring one favourite photo with a message on the back to add to the wall

We are expecting very large numbers to attend and would ask you to arrive early, and walk wherever possible.

There is a fairly cheap pay and display car park behind Aldi in Eastcote shops if you need. Postcode HA5 1TG. This is a 10 min walk from the church.

We look forwards to seeing you.

Mark and family
