Club Statement on membership from 1 April 2020

Given present restrictions and the probability that organised sport will not take place for some considerable time the Management Committee is deferring requesting membership renewals as we normally do by 1 April. All those who are members at the close of 2019/20 will have their memberships rolled forward into 2020/21 unless they formally resign.

We are also suspending registering athletes with England Athletics pending guidance from that body as to the resumption of organised athletics, which at present will not be before April 30.

We urge all members and their families to keep abreast of and comply with government and NHS advice regarding Coronavirus. We wish you all well in this difficult period and hope we can all resume normality as soon as possible.

Best wishes

Management Committee

Coronavirus update

Having seen the Governments statement this evening which included a warning to avoid all “non essential contact” including trips to pubs and clubs, the committee and I have taken the decision to close the clubhouse for the foreseeable future. Coached sessions at both the clubhouse and the track will be suspended. This is in line with the action taken by other local clubs. This is the responsible thing to do and I appreciate it will not be popular. However the health of our members and their families must come first. Individual members must consider for themselves whether it is responsible in the current circumstances to meet up to go out on informal group runs. If you do decide to I would ask that you do not do so from outside the clubhouse. There is no doubt that this is going to be a tough period. Please keep in touch with each other and offer support where needed. We will all miss each other, take care, Dave

Coronavirus Statement

The Health and safety of all members is a priority for the Management Committee. In view of the current situation with Coronavirus we strongly promote and encourage good hand hygiene practices among all our members, volunteers and visitors at the clubhouse and track. Any equipment used should be thoroughly cleaned and wiped down as usual following use. It would also be sensible to avoid sharing water bottles. If you have flu-like symptoms such as a cough, fever or muscle aches you should not attend the clubhouse or track. Instead you should call 111 and await their advice. All members should follow the below general cold and flu advice

cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands)
when you cough or sneeze.
• put used tissues in the bin straight away
• wash your hands with soap and water often and for a minimum of 20 seconds– use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
• try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
• clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
• do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
• athletes and runners are entitled, should they wish, not to shake hands or
have any other form of physical contact with their opponents or officials

The club will be advised by England Athletics if competitions should be cancelled but we are not at this stage currently. However this is a very fluid and rapidly changing situation and we will keep you updated of any changes.
