HAC Ross Barkley 5K

In short the aim is to run your fastest 5k this year and maybe ever.

The twist though is it doesn’t have to be done in one continuous non stop run. In fact, the whole aim is to stop and start your watch throughout this 5K. For example you could run intervals of 5 x 1k runs, 20 x 250m downhill, 100 x 50m or any kind of randomness that will get you your best 5k time and possibly a world record or age cat score that is out of this world 🙂
You have until 8pm Friday 1st May to set a time, however the time does need to be set in one training session.

Please send your RB5k time to me with a link to your activity, if you like plus your old best recent time so we can compare, to me at mbateman@hillingdonac.co.uk
I’ll post the results in full on Friday pm.

Please follow all rules on social distancing during this event.

More background to this event is in this link. Please note it does contain 1 rude word, well 2 if you count the name of the West London FC as well. #twoblues

Virtual April 5k training race results

Wow, what an amazing response, 68 finishers, reports Gavin Collett.

I think we can all claim that one as an outstanding success, so same again on Thursday 14th May, assuming that restrictions have not been lifted sufficiently for us to stage a “real” race that day.

In case you were unaware, there is a weekly club quiz taking place at 8.10pm each Thursday on the Club’s facebook page and thanks to Ellie Henderson for being the quizmaster last night.

Special mention to all our Club members who are on the front line, our thoughts are constantly with you at this difficult time.

And the rest of us … stay at home, use the hour’s exercise per day, protect the NHS and save lives.

Virtual 5k training race – Thursday 9th April

This Thursday 9 April should have been the first 5K Training Race of the year.

Instead we are going to hold the race virtually.

On Thursday (anytime of day), use can use your permitted period of exercise to blast out a fairly accurate 5K; it can be from home, round the actual 5K route, the woods, anywhere permitted under government guidelines. It must be on Thursday though, so our weather conditions are similar.

Then send your time (minutes & seconds) and date of birth to gavin.collett@jti.com by 8pm that day and I’ll produce a “race” result on Friday. There is no need to send me any proof, description of course or links to any others site such as Garmin, Strava, I won’t open them. I trust you all, you’re upstanding members of Hillingdon AC. Please also indicate if you have walked the whole way with no running at all.

Any ages, any speed for members, friends and family of Hillingdon AC. Please spread the word.

Also a reminder there is an 8pm clap that night for all key workers (especially our brave members in the NHS, our thoughts are with you), then a quiz hosted by Ellie Henderson on the club’s facebook page at approx. 8.10pm.

Stay safe everyone, miss you all.
