Summer Series event 3. (not)parkrun

Event 3 runs for all of this week until Sunday. Run a 5k and upload your time to the (not)parkrun section of the parkrun website for your home run. If you’re not already registered with parkrun then you’ll have to fill in a little form beforehand.

For more info on how it works you can look here https://support.parkrun.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009843618–not-parkrun-FAQs

Scoring will be age graded, not based on the fastest time, so there’s a max score for Doug.

I will check for runners who have registered their clubs as HAC or D4F at Northala Fields, Black Park, Ricky, Osterley, South Oxhey and Cassiobury. If you are not registered as HAC/D4F and/or have a different home run then you will need to let me know or you won’t get a score.

Further relaxation of training restrictions

England Athletics have yesterday announced a further relaxation of the rules for athletes, coaches and clubs. For the time being we will stick to the plans that we have in place and continue to build on these in the coming weeks.
We are making good progress. The clubhouse is open and I am happy to announce that the number of people running together in groups can be increased from four to six with immediate effect. Please continue to stick to the rules around hygiene and social distancing. Also be aware of other users of the environment in which you are running.
Also, the juniors will start training again at the track from Tuesday 28th July. A big thank you to the coaches and officials who are working hard to provide a safe training environment for our juniors and to Paul Cuddihy who is leading on this.

CLUBHOUSE REOPENING!

The Management Committee are pleased to announce that the clubhouse will re-open this coming Sunday 12th July. Opening times will be restricted to the following times initially

Sunday 9.30-11.30

Tuesday 18.00-20.00

Thursday 18.00-20.00

Booking  form page

Those wishing to attend one of the above sessions will need to complete the booking form no later than 24 hours prior to that session. You will be able to book three sessions each time you complete a form. You will not be able to attend the clubhouse without booking a session first.

The clubhouse will feel a little different for the time being to ensure that it is COVID compliant and members’ health is protected. A full risk assessment has been carried out and measures put in place to meet the guidelines set by the Government and England Athletics. An enhanced cleaning schedule will be in place.

Changing rooms, showers and the gym remain closed for the time being therefore you will need to come changed to run. Toilets will however be open.

A volunteer Clubhouse steward will be in attendance at all the above sessions to guide you through the restrictions and serve you at the bar. Please follow their instructions.

At this point in time the only social area that will be open will be the patio area at the rear of the clubhouse. Please come prepared for all weathers if you intend to stay!

And finally, please remember that we are all responsible for our own and each other’s safety when using the clubhouse.

Looking forward to seeing you all

Dave and the Management Committee

THURSDAY 9 JULY – Hillingdon AC Virtual 5K Training Race

Having consulted with other club officials, we have decided that it is still impractical to hold the 5K for real in July.

So this coming Thursday (9th), the July Hillingdon AC 5K Training Race will once again be virtual.

On the day, you have until 8pm to complete a fairly accurate 5K; it can be from home, round the actual 5K route, the woods, anywhere permitted under government guidelines.

Then send your time (minutes & seconds) and date of birth by email to gavin.collett@jti.com by 8pm Thursday night and I’ll produce a “race” result on Friday. There is no need to send me any proof, description of course or links to any others site such as Garmin, Strava, I won’t open them. I trust you all! Please also indicate if you have walked the whole way with no running at all.

Any ages, any speed for members, friends and family of Hillingdon AC. Please spread the word.

Stay safe

Gavin

Summer Series 2020

It’s time to accept that none of the races originally chosen for this year’s series are going to take place so it’s time to launch a smaller, virtual version. This will initially consist of 8 races but may be expanded if some more appropriate events crop up in July.

1) 11-13th England Athletics Virtual 5k Road Running Championships. Entries open now here

2) July 18-19th HAC/Thames Valley Harriers virtual 10k (awaiting final confirmation from TVH but this should be a team competition between the 2 clubs with individual scoring for the Summer Series) Entries now open here

3) July 25th (not)parkrun

4) August 2nd Dash For Fitness virtual 10k

5) August 8th (not)parkrun

6) August 13th 5k Training Race

7) August 22/23rd Gosunder Handicap Trophy

8) September 10th 5k Training Race

League tables for Men and Women as usual, scoring as follows

-For all events you will score 5 points for taking part and finishing

-For all events other than (non)parkruns and the Gosunder the quickest male and female HAC/DFF athletes across the line will each earn another 20 points, second 19 and so on

-(not)parkruns are to be scored based on age grading with the highest male and female age gradings scoring 20 points, 2nd highest 19 points and so on

-The Gosunder will be run on a fixed course, yet to be determined. Finishing positions and scoring will be based on the total of your finish time plus handicap

Your overall score for the summer series will be the total of your 6 highest scoring events. This number may increase if more events are added.
