Help Required

Gavin Collett has been attempting to put together 5-year age-group records for the 5K Training Races but has hit a snag – he is missing one of the results!
Gavin wasn’t at the race held on 14th April 2005 and does not have the full result. The first three men and women appeared in the Club magazine, but that is the only information Gavin has.
Please can you dust off your running archives and see if you have any information of that race that you can provide Gavin with?
If required, complete anonymity can be given if you beat Dave Holman to removing the result from the club noticeboard!

One point in it at Peterborough

HAC team at Peterborough

Sunny and steadily more blustery conditions greeted the HAC team in Peterborough. The home side, who had won their first fixture cleared up with a total of 214. Which left the team battling the Vale of Aylesbury for second.

It came down to the 4 X 4′s with HAC lying 3rd by 3 points. The ladies beat V of A to 2nd, reducing the deficit to 2. The men needed to win and V of A come 3rd to draw. The men smashed the field coming home with a good 50m lead. Unfortunately Orion Harriers couldn’t hang on and V of A came 2nd by one match point with 191.

Southern Veterans League Fixture 1, Battersea Park, 9th May 2011

A Men’s team somewhat depleted by injuries and absences travelled to Battersea for the first fixture in this year’s Southern Counties Veterans League. However, multiple performances from a number of athletes meant the team was still able to secure a solid second place. Hillingdon finished with 104 points ahead of Serpentine, St Mary’s, Ealing Southall & Middlesex and Metros and only behind perennial rivals Herne Hill Harriers on 127 points.

The team fared particularly well in the 400m with Jason Steele and Scott Farley taking maximum points and Dave Martin coming second in the M50 category. Another highlight was the 2000m walk with Ken Bobbett winning the M50 and Andy Cox finishing second in the M35 race. The field events saw Keith Seldon score maximum points in both the shot put and the discus while team captain Alan Butler provided strong support in both events, recording a personal best shot put performance and finishing third in the high jump.
