------------- CLUB NEWS ------------- Monday 08 February 2010 Watford Half Marathon Results 7th February 2010
Half forget club name at Watford Anupam Das (AKA Sniper) was the first Hillingdon (OUCCAC) athlete across the line in 15th place in a very good time of 1:16:01 at the undulating Watford Half Marathon. Second was Julian McGowan (no club name) in 42nd with 1:21:51 and third but first official HAC finisher was Dave Knight in 84th overall with 1:25:04 It may of been an error by the organisers but a lot of our finishers and other athletes had no club name which meant they could not score in the team prize. Looking at the results HAC could of easily been 2nd not 11th in the men's competition. Jill Christie was our first female finisher in 495th with 1:38.50 All times stated above are chip times. Happy hunting ground four(th) Julia. Julia Bleasdale has two things uncommon with most athletes. She only races at Parliament Hill for Hillingdon and always does very well. A shame for the women's team that we only race there twice a year! She was the clubs highest finisher overall with a close fourth placed finish in the senior women's race. Matt Revier had the best race of all with 68th place in his first go at the toughest cross country race in Britain, 15k of mud and hills in the men's race. In total there were 37 HAC athletes who slipped, slide, slogged and sank across all the categories.

Many stay away and make it easier to count-y. Photogallery here. The re-arranged Middlesex XC Championships were held in a muddy Ruislip woods on Saturday. The change in date at short notice due to the past arctic weather meant many chose to prioritise their race schedule or could not make this event due to prior engagements. This did have the unfortunate effect of weakening the field in general and it certainly hit our men's team, with a minimum of 6 scorers not at the races. However, there were many positives for those that did cross the start line. The highlights were the U20 men's team of Rob Thompson, James Laing and Shane Coombes who claimed first place in the team event. Joe Saissi U15M and Rhys Spence U17M both won individual bronze medals. The U15 girls and boys plus the U17 men's teams both took bronze team medals and the men's team retained the 12 to score title. Big thanks to the officials that spent most of the day on the course and the refreshments team for providing the tasty food and drink. Hillingdon AC is looking for more volunteers to help run and improve all aspects of the club. The club is a not for profit organisation, all monies raised from membership fees, club fixtures and social events cover the running costs and improvements to the clubhouse, club race and event entry fees, transport to various fixtures and training of club officials and coaches. Entry fees to Hillingdon Stadium don't go to HAC.
All the people that run the club give their time for free for the benefit of everyone connected to the club. We have quite a few volunteers who do jobs like cleaning, managing teams and entries, coaching, paying the bills and buying stock, cooking, club communications and social events for example. We have volunteers that work all day then do club business until late in the evening many nights a week. Now think, who does those jobs? Could you help and improve something in the club? All the volunteers do a good job, but like you, they train, work and have busy lives and interests away from the club. They need your help!
If you're a parent with a child that trains with the club, can you spare time to help coach or assist the coaches? As a level 1 coach, which only takes a day to get the qualification; you can assist the senior coaches, learn new skills and gain the reward of helping the children. The club would pay the coaching fees.
If you feel you can help, even just a little bit, then please speak to someone on the committee or send an email to info@hillingdonac.co.uk and your details will be passed on.
The question has been asked, now, will you put up your hand to volunteer?

It's the Gloss for Matt After silver in last weeks 800m, Matt Fayers went one better and took gold in a championship record time of 4.11.27 in the SEAA U17 Men 1500m final at Lee Valley. Having qualified 3rd from a very slow first heat he had managed to conserve energy for the final a couple of hours later. In the final, Matt was in the pack until 600m to go, then let off the brakes and moved through to take a well worked victory. In the U20 1500m heats, Gavin Barclay, in his first indoor race of the season, clocked 4.19.97. More analysis to come from Stevan in his blog. Full results. Congratulations to Matthew Fayers for winning a silver medal in the under 17 SEAA indoor 800m competition on Sunday. Matt won his qualifying heat with 2.05.9, he then had to re-group for the final. With 150metres to go on the tight indoor track at Lee Valley, he was fourth, but he managed to find that little bit extra to grab a very close second place with 2.03.07 Martin BatemanonMonday 11 January 2010 - 21:09 Wednesday 06 January 2010 Become official
