Lido Relays

This year’s Lido Relays will take place on Sunday 29th December at 9.30am, with registration at the clubhouse from 8.30-9.15. Each team runs three laps of the Lido, so three people can do a lap each, or one person can run all three laps or one person can do 2 laps and the other person one. This event is particularly suited for families but children under 16 years will need to run with an adult.
I still need marshalls and two trained first aiders please.

Met League – Uxbridge 07th December 2019

Hillingdon AC was the proud host of the third Met League fixture of the season at Hillingdon House Farm Sports Ground in Uxbridge.

We are proud of our challenging yet fun course and we do hope that all who competed enjoyed the river crossing and ski slope, and this year’s added woods feature.

Our U11 boys squad of 14 opened proceedings. Dylan Lewis was first home for HAC in 14th position, followed by Barnabe Lesenne-Ward and Charlie Hyde in 20th and 21st position. Our U11 Boys A team finished in 4th position and the B team in 8th position.

Amae Van Zyl was HAC’s first U11 girl over the line in 5th position. Amae was closely followed by Sumayyeh Hamud in 8th position and Sagal Hamud in 10th.  HAC’s squad of 10 U11 girls finished in 3rd and 11th position.

Onto the U13’s and Hillingdon AC had 6 boys and 8 girls in the respective races. Ryan Stoddard was the first HAC competitor home in 27th position, followed by James Naughton and Henry Skinner in 32nd and 34th positions respectively. Our U13 boys teams finished in 8th and 20th postions.

Congratulations to Asmaa Abdirahman who won the U13 girls race in a time of 12.36. Abigail Hackley was our 2nd U13 girl home in 16th postion, closely followed by Zoe Knight in 17th. The U13 girls team finished the event in 3rd position, with the B team in 10th position.

The Junior Men were next to line up on the start and our A team finished the event in first position. The top three HAC junior men were Adam Ireland finished in 4th position in 15.02, closely followed by Nathan Hackley in 5th. Not far behind was Josh Lee who finished in 7th position. HAC’s B and C team finished the event in 12th and 25th respectively.

Hillingdon AC had 7 competitors in the Junior Women race. Clara Higgs led our Junior Women home finishing in 28th position in 19.16.  Following Clara was Jasmine Wood in 39th position and Laura Anene in 43rd. Our Junior Women finished in 8th and 23rd positions in the team league.

Gemma Barry was the first Senior Woman for the Hillingdon A team. Gemma finished in 13th position, followed by Catriona Paterson (30th), Jennifer Harvey (42nd), Hannah Wells (46th) and Ciara Williams (67th) who was adamant she was going to race in her crop top but decided against it at the last minute disappointing Mel Spencer incredibly. Our Division one team finished in 4th position but sit in 4th position after three league fixtures.

The Senior Ladies B team in division 2 finished in 8th position but sit dangerously in 9th position overall. Also in 9th position overall are the C team after finishing our home fixture in 4th.

Zoe Dobbs led our Veteran ladies home in 98th, just pipping Freya Hollingsworth to post after running together for the full 8k. Karen O’Rourke, Lesley Conway and Kathryn Carruthers were the next Vets home following some possible inter-team foul play in the river crossing. Was Kathy pushed or was she just looked for a new knee? The Division 1 Ladies Vets team finished in 7th position, with the Division 2 team finishing in 2nd and Division 3 in first position.

The final race of the day was the Senior Men who were led home by Abdishakur Abdulle in 5th position. The rest of the A team included Mohamed Mohamed (10th), Aramias Zeration (15th), Liam Holbrook (46th), Fahad Abdi (111th), Alex Hutchinson (116th), Will Fielding (144th), Martin Bateman (150th), Charlie Edwards (164th), Andrew Powell (183rd), Steve Hirons (192nd) and Scott Farley (196th).

The Senior Men’s A team finished the event in 4th position, resulting in 7th position after 3 fixtures and the Veteran Men’s Division 1 team finished the fixture in 5th position.

Well done to all who competed at our home fixture. Full results are available on the Met League website https://www.metleague.run/results/

London Cross Country Champs Ladies team report – 16th November

A relatively good turn out (in comparison to the HAC men’s team) of ladies arrived at Parliament Hill to take on 6km, a welcomed change to the weekly #runequal 8km, reports Freya Hollingsworth.

Out of a field of 309 Hannah Wells proudly overtook a lady sporting the #runequal sign to finish 30th and completing her 6th cross country in a row…a week off, perhaps? Freya Hollingsworth trudged through the mud to finish 119th, followed by Lesley Conway (157th), Karmen Pardoe (167th) to complete the scoring team. Boo Smith, Pauline Fischer and Christina Benjamin followed suit with Christina making a run for the warmth of her Dry Robe as soon as she finished!! As a team we finished 23rd out of 31, the ladies were very grateful for the lack of rain this week and Hannah and Freya headed off to the pub for a well deserved pint.

BIG THANKS goes out to chief cheerleaders Lucy and Angela Duncan!

The ladies clearly enjoyed the mud as you can see below.

Club London Marathon Places

HAC will have 2 club places on offer to club members for the London Marathon on the 26th April 2020.

If you are a fully paid up club member and have been for at least 1 year, have a VLM rejection slip/email for next year’s race, not previously won a club place in the last 3 years and want to do the marathon please email me, Martin Bateman at mbateman@hillingdonac.co.uk by the end of Saturday 21st December 2019. Members without a VLM rejection slip/emails can request to be put in the draw but will only be included if they reached the “seeded” requirement which is explained below.

Places will be awarded again this year by ballot and the draw/s will be at the clubhouse on Christmas Day. These places are offered by VLM as a kind of reward to clubs so in turn the seeded applicants will be those that have put a lot into aspects of management and organisation of HAC.

1 place will be available in the “seed” draw and 1 in the open draw.

If for example 5 people apply and only 1 is of “seed” standard then that “seed” will automatically get the place. There will then be a draw for 1 place from the remaining 4 names. If for example there are 5 applications and 2 are of “seed” standard then there will be a Seed draw between the 2 people. The unlucky seed will then go into the draw with the other 3 for the 1 place left. If there are no “seed” applications then everyone goes into the draw if there are over 2 applications.

Anyone applying will need to pay the entry costs themselves if drawn from the ballot.
