Follow HAC on Twitter

Hillingdon AC now have a twitter page! I have created it to twry and keep up with the twimes. I have no idea of its true potential, possiblities and pit falls but it looks worth experimenting with.

From what I can gather, the Twitter page will allow HAC to share with its “followers” links and information about our sport easier twhan  is possible solely on this website and also tweet small bits of info such as fixture results and breaking news from races as it happens for example, but no, I won’t be tweeting as I race otherwise I really will be a Twit!

Lets see how it goes. To visit our page and “follow” us  please click here.

Fixture list

Those of you that are paid up club members should have received the latest edition of the club newsletter, OTL by now. At the time of publishing, the fixtures calendar at the back of OTL was as up to date as possible. However, in the last week I have received a much more up to date version which has a few key changes to that in OTL and can be found here.

Middlesex 10K entry

Entries are now being taken by Gavin Collett for the Middlesex 10K & Open race in Victoria Park, Hackney. Completed forms which can be downloaded here need to be with him by Wednesday 24th August 2011. Alternatively enter yourself on Runnersworld or the Run Britain website. Closing date 27th August.

This race is definitely one where it is possible to run a PB  and last year’s race saw more than 40 runners finish in less than 37
minutes, so it’s a good club standard competition.
HAC normally do well in the team and veteran individual age group categories but could do with seeing some new faces enter this year from all sections of the membership.

Final SAL at Battersea

The final Southern Athletics League had twists and turns, and by some rudimentary calculations on the coach the team came 2nd in the match and potentially 5th in the league overall. We will update you when the final results are out.

Winter Fixtures

With the nights drawing in it won’t be long until we are back in the grips of the cross country season! So you can plan out your next few months competition wise I have added the list of upcoming fixtures here. It still has some gaps, but it is 90% complete.

If you are a club member and coached by a club coach it is requested, not required that you take part in at least a few of the fixtures at the very minimum. Those highlighted in bold are the club events and top of importantance are the Met league events and selection only Road relay events.

Team Managers do try to contact all club members they know about, but some of you slip through the net for one reason or another and don’t get contacted and possibly miss out on some good events. If you want to compete, most fixtures you can just turn up at anyway, or want to be considered for selection for the Road Relays for example, then please contact your relevant Team Manager in good time.

I hope you will support Your Club and put Your training over the summer to good use in the coming months for personal gain and HAC dominance!

Bleasdale UK Champion

Well done to Hillingdon Athlete, Julia Bleasdale who won the women’s 5000m at the Aviva UK trials and Championships in Birmingham on Sunday. The UK Champion produced a PB of 15:49.02, breaking her own club record. She was followed home by European Team Champs representative Eilish McColgan. Watch her interview here.

The qualifying standard of 15.25 (15.14, “A”) for the World Championships in Daegu means that despite the amazing performance we may not see her in a GB vest this summer.

Julia will be live on the BBC this Friday taking part in the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.

Fayers nifty with 3.50

Matthew Fayers kept up his record of breaking his own club records each time he has raced in the last month with another blistering time of 3:50.10 over 1500m. As a bonus he came first in the BMC gold standard race in Stretford on 26th July, 3 days after breaking the 800m record again.
