Recycled Teenagers at Trent Park (AKA ‘Vets’)
A great day for a run and a course good to firm for our fabulous femmes reports Donna Nash.
2 teams were entered for the Middlesex Masters but regrettably 2 apologies from Pauline Fischer and Jackie O’Dowd recovering from skiing injuries. Wishing Pauline and Jackie a speedy recovery.
This left Morgane Lesenne, Zoe Dobbs, Melanie Spencer and Lesley Conway to represent HAC.
Conditions were good and all of our ladies put in a sterling performance.
Morgane was our first lady home in 15th place (31.16), beating 38 other competitors and having bravely avoided a rather large excitable dog. Morgane ran with style – looking strong and relaxed throughout the 6.5km. Tres bien, tres vite, tres jolie Morgane!
Following Morgane came Zoe (22nd place in 32.30), Lesley (26th in 33.41) and Melanie (29th in 34.14).
As a team we placed fifth out of 7 clubs and Lesley Conway earned a bronze medal in 55+ age cat.
Well done for a solid performance and raising the profile yet again of a great club with great athletes.
Results can be foundon the Middlesex AA page here.

Teddy Hall Relays, Oxford, 11 March 2015
Hillingdon AC had only two teams competing in this year’s Teddy Hall Relays but despite the lack of athletes, this didn’t stop the A team claiming ninth place overall, finishing as third non-university club behind the RAF and Oxford City.
James Laing was on first leg for the A team, recording a time of 18:46, James was in sixth place at the end of leg one before handing over to Martin Bateman. Martin clocked 19:18 around the 3.6 mile course, gaining one place to take the team up to their highest race position of fifth. Chris Ingram was making his debut at the Teddy Hall Relays and he ran well on leg 3 to record a time of 20:48 before passing over to Paul Leppard who brought the team home with a time of 21:47.
The B team was comprised of Hannah Wells (23:06), Bob Burton (26:51), John Luscombe (26:26) and Errol Ramnath who has only recently returned from injury and gamely ran round in 28:09 to ensure that the B team finished a team. The B team finished 60th out of 72 complete Men’s teams.
The race was won by Imperial College, with Oxford University second and the RAF third. After the race, club members conducted a tour of some of Oxford’s historic buildings including one of Oxford’s oldest public houses, the Bodleian Library, the Bridge of Sighs and one of the locations frequented by Colin Dexter’s Inspector Morse.
The Teddy Hall Trophy (for the club member who best displays “the spirit of Teddy Hall”) was awarded by unanimous decision to Paul Leppard who was taking part in the Teddy Hall Relays for the 15th consecutive year.
Full results may be found here.
Photos of the race may be found here.
