The date for the 1st Vets fixture of the season is fast approaching and I know some of you still do not know details of the fixtures and who can compete.

If you are a Male/Female age 35 or over and interested in track and field we need you to help the team whether its scoring for the team or as backup and competing as a guest the more options both myself and Maria have the better.

The dates for the 4 fixtures are as follows,

Monday 9th May – Battersea – hosted by Serpentine
Monday 6th June – Hillingdon – hosted by Hillingdon
Monday 20th June – Battersea – hosted by Herne Hill Harriers
Wednesday 13th July – Perivale – hosted by ESM.

If you need help with a lift up to Battersea let us no as I am sure cars will be going up from the clubhouse and we can help if possible with a lift for you.

A storming victory for HAC as the competition gets blown away.

Well done to the 17 club athletes that braved the wild conditions this morning in the Hillingdon HM & 10K. Both the men’s and women’s team took victory in the team prize in the HM and the pick of the performances were Abdishakur Abudelle’s and James Laing‘s 2nd and 3rd place respectively and Steph Vélez‘s 4th women’s place in the HM. James Burton was our first finisher in the 10k in 4th and Caroline Ford was 18th and 3rd women’s. Thanks to everyone that competed and helped out today. This year is the 50th anniversary of Hillingdon AC. One of the events that the committee is planning to celebrate this is a dinner and dance on Saturday 17th September 2016 from 7.30pm till late. The venue is Northwood Golf Club, there will be a hot fork buffet and live band playing music from the Great American Songbook. Tickets are £15 per person and can be purchased from Dave Smith either at the club house or by e-mail at davidalan.smith2@gmail.com.

This year’s race was won by Jonathan Poole in a time of 1:48:57. The winner of the Women’s race was Lucy Ashe of Metros in a time of 2:17:04. First Hillingdon AC male was James Laing in 6th place in 1:55:08 and first Hillingdon AC female, in 204th place, was Debbie Brown in 2:45:37. As many of you will be aware there was a serious incident on the course in which a competitor collapsed and stopped breathing. I am glad to say he was successfully resuscitated by club members, two doctors who were involved in the race and our medical support on the day. The club defibrillator was used for the first time since we purchased this at the end of last year. I am glad to inform you that following a medical procedure at Harefield Hospital the runner is now back at home and recovering, without any lasting physical damage.

Hillingdon had one competitor in this year’s Maidenhead 10. Michael Howard, V50, finished in 360th place overall in a time of 1:17:52.

Well done to Martin Bateman and Hannah Wells who finished first male and female respectively in this year’s Wilkie Mile. The race was held on Thursday 24th March over a mile on Broadwood Avenue in Ruislip. Martin finished in 4:58 and Hannah in 5:36, a new club record for the Women’s race in this event. This year’s race will take place on Thursday 24^th March at 6.45pm at Broadwood Avenue, Ruislip.

The measured course will start and finish near the main roundabout at the junction between Broadwood Avenue, King’s College Road and Park Wood.

Please register at the clubhouse by 6.30pm.

You compete entirely at your own risk.

All Club members are welcome to run, £3 fee for any non-member.

Following the Wilkie Mile, the bar will be open (following day is Good Friday!) and there will be the normal array of pool, table tennis, darts, etc on offer.

Completed forms are due by 1st April and this goes for life members, coaches and officials too. Anyone allowing this deadline to lapse won’t be HAC members and permitted to use any HAC facilities or compete in club events or be insured by HAC.

Marshals are urgently needed for the Finchley 20 road race being held next Sunday 13th March at 9am. We are still short by approx. 20 marshals, so if you can only volunteer to help at one event please make it this one!
