5km masterclass update
On Saturday, the participants in the Autumn Dash for Fitness 5k Masterclass, in association with Hillingdon Athletic Club, took part in a progress checking 5k Parkrun. There were a stack of PBs and truly incredible results with lots of end of programme goals achieved, despite there still being 4 weeks’ training to go!
Karmen managed to do a new superfast PB of 19:33 – an amazing 35secs faster than her baseline at the start of the Masterclass, and beating her end of programme goal by 7secs. Bhavish, who’d already beaten his 23:30 end of programme goal, ran another PB. There were also PBs for Andrew who beat his end of programme goal by a remarkable 90secs, Sree who beat hers by over a minute, Julia who beat hers by over 10secs, and Andrea who beat her target by 20secs. There were also great performances from Jaz, doing only her second 5k in a time that puts her within striking distance of her end of programme goal, and Swathi doing her first 5k and getting around in well under 45:00. Congratulations everyone, you should all be very proud of yourselves.
As per above, the Masterclass helps people of all levels (including absolute beginners) go further, go faster, and get fitter. You work towards your own goal, following a 12-week Training Plan created especially for you by a UK Athletics Running Coach. Group training sessions are held on Saturdays (9-10am at the running track in King’s College Road, Ruislip), with a monthly 5K Park Run to check progress against your goals. We’re now taking registration for our Winter 5K Masterclass, which starts on Saturday, December 16th at 9am, at Kings College Track, Ruislip. The cost works out at £5 a week, if you pay in advance for a block of 4 (£20). Alternatively, you can pay for the full 12-week programme in advance, at a discounted rate of £50.
