Hillingdon 20 and Volunteer Coordinator vacancy

Firstly a quick reminder that the Hillingdon 20 is on Sunday 5th September, please keep yourself free to help out. We need as many people as possible (at least 70) to make it a success, this event is the clubs biggest earner and is what keeps your subs down

Maria is stepping down from her role as volunteer coordinator for the H20 so we are looking for someone to take over. The position involves recruiting volunteers and assigning roles to each, briefing marshals on the day and ensuring all positions are covered during the race. Maria will still be on hand this year to help and advise and members of the committee will help with the recruitment drive
If anyone feels they may be able to take on this role then please let Dan Spinks or a member of the committee know. Thanks

Harry Wild

As many of you know Harry’s health has deteriorated in recent months and I am very sad to say his family have informed me that he now has a life limiting illness. Harry may well not be able to visit the clubhouse as often and we will miss our dear friend, as he will miss us I’m sure. Harry would really appreciate you giving him a call for a chat to enable him to remain engaged in, and updated on, club  life. Too many people calling straight away may be a bit overwhelming but as the days go by please keep him in mind and perhaps one morning or evening give him a call. I am sure he will be pleased to hear from you.

Please contact Kathy Davidson at kathy.davidson47@gmail.com for any further information or Harry’s contact details

London Marathon Club Places

HAC will have 2 club places on offer to club members for the London Marathon on the 3rd October 2021. There will be NO club places available for the 2022 race.
The emphasis for this year will be rewarding “Seed” standard applicants. Places will be awarded again this year by ballot and the draw/s will be at the clubhouse on Thursday 8th July after the Training Race. These places are offered by VLM as a kind of reward to clubs so in turn the seeded applicants will be those that have put a lot into any of the following from club management, coaching, officiating and event organisation in particular during the COVID pandemic.
If for example 5 people apply and only 1 is of “seed” standard then that “seed” will automatically get the place. There will then be a draw for 1 place from the remaining 4 names. If for example there are 5 applications and 3 are of “seed” standard then there will be a Seed draw between the 3 people for the 2 places. If there are no “seed” applications then everyone goes into the draw if there are over 2 applications.
Anyone applying will need to pay the entry costs themselves if drawn from the ballot.
If you are a fully paid/signed up club member and have been for at least 1 year and not previously won a club place in the last 3 years and want to do the marathon please email me, Martin Bateman at mbateman@hillingdonac.co.uk by the end of Wednesday 7th July 2021. Please state whether you are looking to be in the Seed or Open draw. The final decision on who goes into each draw category is taken by Martin Bateman.
