Claybury Met League Senior Ladies report
Despite being light on numbers for yesterday’s race in Met League Race 1 at Claybury we achieved a remarkable level of success which hopefully we can build upon in the future four fixtures. We had six veterans and two senior runners at the start , and all got round in a field of 179 finishers. Debutant Carole Coulon finished in 7th position overall and first veteran lady, and only 10 more veterans had arrived before the Pocket Rocket Karmen Pardoe arrived, and with strong runs from Zoe Dobbs and Iwona Gray-Cauvin to make up the 4 women team we currently lie in an astonishing 3rd position out of 12 teams in Veteran Ladies Division One. Hannah Wells motored round to finish in 25th place and total cross-country novice Nasteran Sepanj smiled all the way round to complete our senior ladies team score. Obviously we have work to do to consolidate our position in senior division one but currently lie in 9th position, some way clear of the three teams beneath us. Pauline Smith ran a creditable race having not run for some considerable time to be first scorer for the Veterans ‘B’ team, and the Indestructible Angela Duncan finished, as always, to complete the line-up. This was a very encouraging result from such a small team, and hopefully we will improve our positions with bigger teams in future races. Certainly, we now have the potential to be a major force in the Veterans Category!!! Bring on Welwyn Garden City in 4 weeks!!!!!!
