English Schools Champion becomes UK and Irish schools Champion
Jack Kirby who won the English Schools 100m Hurdle title in Birmingham on the Saturday 6th July travelled to Dublin on Saturday 20th July were he represented England against the best UK and Irish schools hurdlers in the SIAB International Championships.
Jack marked his international debut with a win that firmly put his home country rivals in their place winning by over five metres in a time of 13.07 into a strong headwind.
Jack who is unbeaten this season with 17 straight wins is coached by Angela Wilcox who travelled to Dublin to ensure Jack arrived at the start ready to do what he does best, ‘Win’.
Both athlete and coach were very happy with the result.
Angela said ‘I was confident he would win if he executed his race plan correctly’.
Jack is ranked No1 in the UK with a time of 12.80 which puts him 6th in the UK all time list.
Jack is currently the Middlesex 60m Hurdle and 100m Hurdle champion. The Middlesex Schools 100m Hurdle
Champion. The England Athletics 60m Hurdle Champion. The English Schools 100m Hurdle Champion and
SIAB international 100m Hurdle Champion.
Next for Jack come the Southern Champs and English Champs in August and the UK games in Sheffield
in September.
