F20 Thank you

On Sunday 11th March Hillingdon Athletic Club once again organised the annual “Finchley 20” mile road race for the 78th time.

The F20 organising team would like to thank all the club members, friends of the club and officials for giving up their time and helping  before and on event day to make the race a success once again for the competitors and the club as a whole.

Those not able to make it missed out on a great race that was won in a very impressive 1.45.17 plus the sense of acheivement that is gained from volunteering and making an event happen in a positive manner.

For many the race is used as preparation for the London Marathon and this year HAC were pleased to have New Zealand 2012 Olympic marathon hopeful, Paul Martelletti from Victoria Park Harriers & Tower Hamlets AC take part and win the race with a dominant performance of 1 hour 45 minutes and 17 seconds for the undulating 4 times 5 mile lap course around Ruislip and Ickenham. Serpentine RC athletes took the next 2 places. In Second place was Will Green in 1.50.47 and third was Spaniard, Fernando De Valle in 1.53.48.

First woman finisher was Veteran 40 athlete Philippa Taylor of Nene Valley Harriers in 32nd overall with 2.08.16, second and 36th overall from London Heathside was Katy Webster in 2.09.53 and third was Helen Winsor from Serpentine RC with 2.12.20 in 45th overall.

In the fine spring sunshine Hillingdon AC had 10 finishers from the total of 501 that crossed the finish line. Pick of the Hillingdon results was that of Andy Mansi, aged 62 who clocked an impressive 2.25.20 for the 20 miles.

Full race results are here.

The organising team are now going to take a well earned break. Thanks again to all our volunteers!

Well done to all our Hillingdon finishers.
