Final SAL at Battersea
The final Southern Athletics League had twists and turns, and by some rudimentary calculations on the coach the team came 2nd in the match and potentially 5th in the league overall. We will update you when the final results are out.
Starting at the end Hillingdon put out not one but three 4X4 relay teams with the scoring team coming 1st by quite some way. Andrew Kendall had been taken out of his end of season bubble wrap to run the relays and a fast first leg. The “B” team was 2nd, James Laing hanging on at the end for the pride rather than points, finishing ahead of the next scoring team.
There was a triple double set of PBs. Joe Saissi won the 800m “A” in 1.57.2 and 53.5 in a non scoring 400m. With Steve Goreham and Gavin Barclay winning “A” and “B” 4 respectively. The second double PB came by way of James and Rob Thompson in the 5K working superbly well together in front of the field to gain personal bests of 15.44 and 15.47. James Manley also had a double PB in some unusual events, the 400m hurdles (61 dead) and the 1500m (4.17).
There was also a triple PBathon from Micheal Kendal in the 110 hurdles (20.4), triple jump (12.12) and the Discus (21.74, ish TBC).
Emma Humphries made her SAL debut in the 3k also completing the 1500m and a leg of the 4X1.
Michael Church threw 43.00m to win the jav and Carys Tetlaw won the triple jump.
