Ladies Vets Track & Field Season 2018
Another SCVAC season ended this month, for the Hillingdon Ladies vets team in the Mid-London Division, reports Team Manager Maria Hernandez-Humm. We had fierce competition from Herne Hill (the winners) and Serpentine, although we had equal match points with Serpentine, they beat us on event points, so we came 3rd overall out of 6 teams. Unusually so, we had fine weather for all the fixtures, two at Battersea and two at Perivale, Unfortunately we were unable to have a fixture at Uxbridge due to cage being condemned.
The first fixture was on 4th May at Battersea in which we came third. The 100m sprinters were in unison and all came 2nd in their races across, the age categories. Maria Hernandez-Humm won the long jump in the W50 age group and the 400m relay team came a very close second behind Serpentine. We did have some gaps in the team for some of the W50 & W60 events. Next up was Perivale on 4th June. A full team this time with PB’s for Elisa Morse in the 3k shot put, Caroline Ford in the triple jump and Lynn Hyde in the 800m, putting us in 2nd position. Third fixture again at Battersea and third position. Sharon Dooley won the W35A 100m and Lesley Conway won in the 400m & 1500m for the W60. PB’s were achieved for Lorraine Kingston in the W35B 100m and Sharon Talbot in the 600 javelin. Our final event was again at Perivale on 1st August. We had a full squad and the team came 2nd at this fixture. Hendricak White came 1st in the W60 100m, Elisa Morse won the W50 in the hammer and got a PB to boot and Lesely Conway won with a clean sweep in the 800m, 3000m & long jump for the W60. A PB was also achieved in Javelin 500 for Cathy Girvan W60.
I would like to thank each and every one of the ladies who competed for Hillingdon AC. You are a great team and for those that were unable to compete due to injury, get fit and well and see you in 2019 too.
