Met League, Senior Men, Claybury, 14/10/2023

Hillingdon AC’s senior men made a strong start to the 2023/2024 Met League cross-country season with the A Team finishing sixth in Division One and the B and C teams finishing third and seventh in Division Three.

With 31 men competing for the club, this was one of the largest turnouts for a Met League fixture by Hillingdon AC’s men since the Covid pandemic and those numbers converted into a high number of points being scored across the A, B and C teams as athletes traveled west to east across London to race.

With dry underfoot conditions typical of the Claybury course at this time of year, Jamal Ismael was first scorer for the club in 13th place with recent marathoners Rob Thompson (Berlin) and James Laing (Dorney) not far behind in 34th and 45th place respectively.

With a number of our quicker athletes answering the call to compete, the men finished their first eleven scorers in the first 145 places with Adnane Feloussi marking his debut for the club as the twelfth and final A team scorer in 233rd. Behind Adnane the next eight Hillingdon AC men packed in to complete the scoring for the B team within the first 295 places and due to the high level of representation from the club we were also able to field a complete C team.

Edward Spencer marked his senior Met League debut by finishing 131st while there were club debuts and returns to competition from Shaun Burns (252nd), Scott Farley (276th), Dan Nolan (287th), Nigel Ribeiro (295th), Alan Tilly (327th), Paul Spencer (350th), Pete Warburton (357th), Mark Krull (384th) and Jeremy Collis (387th).
