National Cross Country Relays, Mansfield 03 November 2012

Eight Hillingdon AC athletes made the long journey to Berry Hill Park In Mansfield to compete in the National Cross Country Relays with representation in the Under 17 Men’s race, the Under 20 Men’s race and the Senior Men’s race on a cold but bright day in Nottinghamshire.

The Under 17 Men finished 36th out of 70 complete teams after three legs of the 3k course thanks to Jack Treanor (10:42), Sam Lloyd (10:20) and Rubin Vos (9:58)

Matt Fayers was the sole Hillingdon AC competitor in the Under 20 Men’s race finishing the first leg in eighth place with a time of 9:06 over the 3k course.

The Senior Men finished 38th out of 120 complete teams –  their highest place finish at these Championships since 2002 when a team comprising of Scott Tompsett, Paul Cuddihy, Paul Leppard and Brett Hutchinson finished 32nd. Robert Thompson had the standout performance of the team clocking 16:18 over the 5k course to finish the first leg in 30th place with James Laing (17:11), Dan Thompson (17:24) and Sam Blanshard (17:54) putting in high quality performances and maximum effort to easily exceed their pre-race target of a top 50 finish.
