Race Organisation

“A big thank you to all those who made this year’s Finchley 20 such a success with a lot of positive feedback from other club athletes and a net profit to the club of approx £10.000, that’s equivalent to 140 adult members subscriptions !
In recent years race organisation of the Finchley 20 has been led by individuals, such as John Doyle, Harry Wild & Martin Bateman, with more demands being placed on race organisers in terms of safety etc,
Along with this, is the fact that Hillingdon Council have been in talks with the club over developing a further road race, possibly a half marathon, to encourage more residents to participate. This could be a further income stream for the club from both the race and new members.
With this in mind, the management committee would like to set up a race organisation sub group of 4 – 6 people. The areas that we need to develop initially include Chip timing, Race sponsorship, links to charities, coordination of marshals, etc along with the forward planning of races.

John Doyle

Individuals who would like to contribute to this group are asked to let myself or John Doyle know as soon as possible.  No previous experience is necessary, it is anticipated that the role will include a short monthly update meeting at the club (following training),along with follow-up enquiries & emails.

John and I can be contacted at the following e-mail addresses
This is an important opportunity to ensure the future of the Finchley 20, further develop Road Racing and contribute to the ‘Legacy’  of the London Olympics of which we were all so proud.
Best Wishes
Dave Smith, Communications Secretary.
