National 20K Race Walking Championships – 14th April 2007 – Coventry

The National Championships were held on a 16 lap course in a Business Park near Coventry Godiva Harriers clubhouse and resulted in a Silevr medal for Anne, Trevor Jones reports. It was held on the hottest day of the year so far resulting in numerous competitors suffering badly or even dropping out.The women’s field was initially quite strong so Anne kept to her even paced plan for the first half of the race but, with the toil of the heat and racing on her own, meant that her times slowed until the last lap when she managed to rally and finish strongly. Afterwards she was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was placed second in the National Championships and received a sizeable Silver medal as a reward for her determined efforts.
