Message from the Race Organiser.
Just a note to let you know that there are permanent and temporary works in the park that have and may or may not further affect the course.
The permanent change is an upgrading of the main north-south route through the park. This has resulted in small change to the course at the point circled on the map of the course. In turn this will mean that competitors will have to run along a path for 20-30m, a bit uncomfortable for those who prefer to wear spikes. (In the past we cut across this path and down a bank to bring us onto the grass by the lake.)
As of last week there were some temporary barriers along another section of the course but there appeared to be only a small area of tarmac to be finished and I would guess that they may be removed by next weekend. There is however the possibility of other minor obstructions which we will have to avoid when we set out the course next Saturday morning. Thus there may still be some last-minute local changes to the course.
Perhaps it is also worth reminding you that parking can be difficult in the park so you might want to remind your team members not to leave it until the last minute. Also don’t forget to ‘pay and display’ even if your stay is within the free period.
