National Lottery Olympic Park Run 5 (long course)
Several members of Hillingdon AC completed The National Lottery Olympic Park Run last saturday, being the first race to finish on the new olympic track was a once in a lifetime experience reports Mike Ingram.
5000 runners tackled the 5mile road race around the olympic park. Entry was via a online ballot with of over 43,000 entrants for the 5000 places available.
Former UK junior Indoor 3,000m champion Tommy Davies won the mens race in 25.11 and Nell McAndrew was the first woman to complete the race in 29.21.
The course included a deceiving incline just after 4 miles and being over 400m long reflected in the finishing times.
First Hillingdon finisher was Chris Ingram in a very respectable 30th place in 28.28. The First Hillingdon lady was Hannah Wells in 35.45 finishing in 631st and 76th women overall.
Some of the many highlights of the day was Chris turning 21 and Hannah getting a finishers cuddle from UK 400m record holder Iwan Thomas. Full Results here.

Hillingdon’s team earn Bronze.
Taken from the official report. Neringe Aidietyte (Lithuainia) who had recently attained an Olympic qualifying time totally dominated the third race of the Enfield RW League 2012 series. Pat Furey the event sponsor was on hand to start the race and was assisted at the presentation by EHAC chairman John Mercer.
Fransisco Reis retained the trophy he won last year and among a number of interesting duels that took place was the struggle for second place. Fabian Deuter of Hillingdon AC registering his best time since he resumed race walking last year.
